La Faculté
Comité Dans Paris
The action takes place on a French university’s campus. One evening, a crime occurs. A student is murdered. Is it a racist crime, a settling of scores, a homophobic crime…? La Faculté raises questions about sexual identity, otherness, and the difference that frightens people to the point of committing the irreparable.
Christophe Honoré’s script, written for a production by Éric Vigner with actors from the Académie, tackles the issue of homosexuality by confronting common law and family law. It is a contemporary tragedy that tackles all tragic themes that theatre has developed since its origins: sacrificial murder, banishment, family conflicts, siblings in crisis, the impossibility of love, destiny, secrets, the forbidden and its corollary, transgression…
Premiered on 13 July 2012 at the Festival d’Avignon.
Play written by Christophe Honoré for Éric Vigner and the actors of the Académie.
